In the Legal 500 ranking, Taylor Wessing Czech Republic was recognised in the categories Commercial, Corporate, M & A and Real Estate. In the IFLR1000 ranking, Taylor Wessing Prague was recognised in the area M & A. Karin Pomaizlová, partner of Taylor Wessing Prague, was again ranked among the IP stars. The Prague office also noted last year that Karin Pomaizlová was ranked second in the World Trademark Review 1000 for the year 2018 for excellence in providing complete legal services in the field of trademarks. At the same time, the World Trademark Review WTR 1000 for the year 2018, in the INTERNATIONAL category, the law firm in the Czech Republic was ranked third. This distinction was awarded for outstanding business know-how when providing complete service for trademark protection and thanks to close collaboration with colleagues in other departments. Lawyers specialising in intellectual property were recognised for achieving specific goals in this area. For 2019, we are ranked among the top 5 TOP employers in a survey of law students enrolled in Czech universities. This survey was carried out under the auspices of the Association of Students and Graduates (ASA). The online survey conducted from October to December 2018 drew responses from 11,577 students. In the last year, we have been intensively involved in education and presentations and consultations in the area of data security within the Czech Republic. In 2018, we also re-opened our branch office in the Moravian metropolis of Brno to meet the increasing demands of clients and local demand for legal services. The branch has gained significant support with the addition of two new experienced lawyers with local knowledge, who will focus in particular on the development of relationships with current and prospective clients of the law firm.

What also characterizes us is that our firm is made up almost 50% of women, and not just trainees, but also Taylor Wessing Czech Republic associates, lawyers and full partners. At the same time, our teams are getting ever more creative and delivering to our clients’ victories in a great many transactions. We are also convinced that the cornerstone to our success is access to all partners – employees, clients, partner organisations, suppliers, regulators and the local community. We continue on the path of educating younger generations, and regularly hold lectures and presentations in schools not just about the law, but also about the legal profession in real life. We continue to pursue our successful Literary Competition for Students of Law Faculties in the Czech Republic, with 2019 marking the seventh year it’s been held. In particular, these efforts aim to encourage young lawyers to join in discussions of theory and practice. The result has been literary essays that reflect many key issues (e.g. the importance of legal support for start-ups, CSR activities and their implementation in practice within our law firm, the importance of legal support for sport, the EET and the starting point for lawyers in relation to economic and legal aspects, etc. In the past year, the law firm also cooperated with Czech Radio on its Christmas charity project “Ježíšek’s grandchildren”, and the literary competition was extended in include university students from other faculties.
