Over the past 12 months, we have also been working with several major professional organisations, such as the Association of In-house Lawyers of the Czech Republic, with which we jointly organise seminars addressing the current needs of corporate lawyers. What also characterizes us is that our firm is made up almost 50% of women, and not just trainees, but also Taylor Wessing Prague associates, lawyers and full partners. At the same time, our teams are getting ever more creative and delivering to our clients’ victories in a great many transactions. We are also convinced that the cornerstone to our success is access to all partners – employees, clients, partner organisations, suppliers, regulators and the local community. We have also embarked on the path of educating younger generations, and regularly hold lectures and presentations in schools not just about the law, but also about the legal profession in real life. We continue to pursue our successful Literary Competition for Students of Law Faculties in the Czech Republic, with 2018 marking the sixth year it’s been held. In particular, these efforts aim to encourage young lawyers to join in discussions of theory and practice. The result has been literary essays that reflect many key issues (e.g. the importance of legal support for start-ups, CSR
activities and their implementation in practice within our law firm, the importance of legal support for sport, the EET and the starting point for lawyers in relation to economic and legal aspects, etc. In our practice we deal with transactions in the order of millions of euros. So we are well aware that young people working in our field are at risk of losing touch with reality. We balance this out with pro bono work. When young colleagues have the opportunity to work with people in need, they realise that there are people without legal support here with real problems; that the profession is not just about transactions. In addition, they see the results quickly. Therefore, CSR activities for non-profit organisations, such as the Prague-based association Pragulic, also play an important role for us. Cooperation has been on going for over 5 years now, including holding regular legal consultations for Pragulic’s clients. For the past two years, our law firm has also been involved in preparing a brochure for this non-profit organisation. We focus a lot on sport, too, especially marathon runs. Within the Taylor Wessing network, we take part in both individual and team events, such as relay races, above all in Prague and Vienna.
